Our Current ProjectsBridge Commons Founded 2000, the Bridge Housing Corporation was established by HEAT (Housing Ecumenical Action Team), a group of Island congregations, to help combat the socially destructive Island housing crisis. Bridge seeks to encourage property owners and others to take the steps necessary to get Island families into decent housing. The Housing Fund is working with the non-profit Bridge Housing Corp. to create a 22-unit affordable housing pocket neighborhood nestled in the woods of the former Norton property near Deer Hill Road in Tisbury. It was subdivided with care, not only to protect the existing viewshed, but also to save additional lands through the Martha's Vineyard Land Bank, adding to their holdings at the Ripley's Field Preserve. Bridge Housing will sell these units in cooperation with the Island Housing Trust, who will ground lease the land with restrictions to households earning 80%, 120%, and 150% of the median income. To make that a reality, the Island Affordable Housing Fund will assist in the fundraising of the monies needed in order to bridge the gap of $1.7 million dollars.
